Sam Coe & The Long Shadows – Full Moon

| |

I caught these guys supporting Canaan Cox on his 3-date UK tour in 2018 and they were so good live I picked up their album and listened it on the way home from the gig.

This album is full of tracks which you would hear coming out of the radio as they are listenable and enjoyable. This is UK country music which makes county music cool – not too American-heavy. It has enough of a sprinkle of pop to be able to reach a wide audience. You could call it modern country music.

There is still a strong guitar sound and with the classic lap steel and dobro sounds to keep its country roots.

The song writing is quality and each song tells a story that grabs you as much as the music. Sam has a lovely smooth voice, yet can still belt out when she needs to. Her voice fits the tracks as the emotion comes through into the story telling of the songs.

13 tracks on this album so you get your money’s worth. All well-picked tracks to make a pleasurable album. It’s a great one for taking a drive and worth a listen to change your view on country music.

Best lyrics of the album:

I’ll be whiskey dreaming tonight
