Ipswich Summertime Festival 2021

| |

With the Maritime Festival being rescheduled for 2022 and the lifting of restrictions, there was a gap that needed filling. Ipswich Borough Council pulled out all the stops to organise a two-day festival at the Waterfront, all within a couple of months.

Food stalls, drinks stalls, craft stalls and fun fair rides brought family fun and entertainment to area. Then we had two days of live music on the main stage and a big firework display to end the evening on Saturday night.

We also had Marvel & DC characters walking about having their photos taken and bringing smiles to everyone.

Saturday faired good weather and the crowds came out to support the event, Sunday was very changeable and once the downpours had been dodged people ventured out to enjoy the festival and take cover when needed.

The range of stalls meant you could buy a piece of glass artwork or jewellery while eyeing up belts, munching on fudge or exotic olives and taking a rest with a jumbo hotdog and a Spanish beer before trying to win a prize at the fun fair – there was plenty to keep everyone of all ages entertained.

The music was the main entertainment and local bands kept the audience engaged from 11am in the morning each day. Stephen Foster was our host and Saturday saw the likes of Hurricane Alley, Connor Adams, Tore Down, The Colourblind Hedgehogs and headliners Underline The Sky who performed as it was getting dark, getting the crowd ready for the fireworks. Sunday’s acts included Sunset Bamboo, Back Porch, Icarus Vision and Lucky No 7 who closed the show with a great performance.

Well done to the Events Team at the Council to get something organised so quickly.
