Sugababes & Natasha Bedingfield

| |

After an amazing run of top acts at this year’s Newmarket Nights the last on the schedule was the Sugababes with support from Natasha Bedingfield.

The last music event of the season was held on a Saturday which meant early afternoon racing and the music started late afternoon. The Saturday event is more of a family occasion as children were permitted into the races.

There were a mix of generations for these two icon names on the billboard. Those who grew up with the music wanting that mix of nostalgic pop to relive their younger years, and those who want some great pop tunes and experience this part of pop culture.

Natasha Bedingfield perfectly warmed up the crowd with her amazing voice, personality, and looking stunning she radiated the warm back out into the crowd who were loving the set. She engaged with the crowd like an old friend, grabbed a mobile phone to record exclusive footage for the excited owner, giggled and danced through her set.

Natasha energetically sang a selection of tracks including ‘Pocketful of Sunshine’ and Roller Skate’, but the crowd roared and sang along to nearly every word to ‘These Words’ and ‘Unwritten’. It was fantastic to be part of the joyous crowd. Her cover of Portishead’s ‘Glory Box’ was amazing.

The crowd were definitely wanting more which meant there was a big cheer when the music started for the Sugababes. They launched straight into ‘Freak Like Me’ and their vocals were as strong as ever and with a live band the quality was excellent as their voices soared over the thumping baselines. After a few back to back songs they chatted with the audience, smiling and looking like they were having a great time.

They played the hits which met with a roar of recognition and a sea of recording mobile phones, songs included ‘Round Round’, ‘Push the Button’, ‘Overload’ and ‘Stronger’. The softer tracks like ‘Too Lost In You’ showcased the power of their voices and finishing off with ‘About You Now’.

It was a brilliant last night filled with joyful pop tracks lifting the sprits as the excellent Newmarket Nights come to a close for another  year.

Who on earth will they get for 2026?
