Ministry of Sound Classical

Newmarket Nights at Newmarket Racecourse kicked off their Live Music 2025 season with a massive crowd jumping to the amazing set from Ministry of Sound Classical.

The evening racing began late afternoon on one of the hottest days of the year, however this did not stop everyone dressing up and enjoying themselves. With plenty of food and drink facilities at the racecourse the crowd were entertaining themselves with placing bets and shouting out horse names as the runners got closer to the finish line. The atmosphere was warm, fun, friendly and happy.

After placing a small bet on each race and only winning one, which was a nice surprise, we took our place near the front of the stage. The DJ – Brandon Block – began the evening’s music with about thirty minutes of classic club bangers to encourage the crowds into the paddock and got us all warmed up – it was a great set and the crowds were happily jumping to the beats.

There was a dramatic introduction to the main act as a 30-piece orchestra began their big build up to their first club classic mix which included ‘Hey Ma Ma Ma’ with a trio of singers. Then we had an hour of thumping 90s classic dance tracks filling the night air with the sounds of the orchestra, fabulous guest singers and an amazing light show.

The set list included all you would expect: Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’, ‘Dreamer’ by Livin’ Joy, ‘Right Here, Right Now’ by Fatboy Slim, ‘Lola’s Theme’ by The Shapeshifters, Café del Mar, Chicane, Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)’ by Rozalla, Delerium’s ‘Silence’, and many more and of course Faithless’ ‘Insomnia’ for the end of the night medley.

It was a spectacular start to the programme of Newmarket Nights, the crowd were swept up with the music and everyone was dancing, cheering, fist pumping the sky, singing at the top of their lungs and very clearly having the best time. Ministry of Sound Classical was a brilliant first act for setting the bar high at Newmarket Nights.

Other acts of the programme include:
27th June – Richard Ashcroft
1st August – Tom Jones
8th August – Faithless
15th August – Ball & Boe
23rd August – SugarBabes & Natasha Bedingfield
