Finally the winners of BurySOUND 2025 have been crowned:
H*llo K*tty Fun Land
The heavy metal trio beat 76 applications which were whittled down to 25 acts which then competed over five Heats. The five finalists reached the Grand Final of BurySOUND 2025 for a big, enjoyable show at The Apex.
The winners of the Rising Star Award:
Krumpets
As well as having to impress the judges all the finalists needed to step everything up a notch as they were performing on a larger stage and a bigger audience – and they all brought their ‘A’ games which gave the crowd an interesting, eclectic amazing night of live grassroots music from East Anglia.
The finalists from the five heats were:
Heat 1 – Krumpets – a delightful trio who are uniquely whimsical with elements of dreamy shoegaze with folky backnotes. Although not letting the crowd getting too comfortable with the lovely voices and harmonies, they switch it up to a screaming rock beat that blew the roof off! Plus there was a banjo.

Heat 2 – Bi-Neural – a prog rock style duo with concept tracks using long slow notes from the keyboard while the drums were adding intermittent beats. Each track would switch and build. Whether it was the hard hitting bass riffs, the dancing around the drum kit, the almost choral, haunting voice, the heavy metal screams. These guys were unique and wonderfully experimental.

Heat 3 – The Dutch House – have a cool art rock vibe with tight musicianship. The guitar riffs and melodies were delightful and the tracks were well structured and very listenable.

Heat 4 – Doll Face – are a four-piece alt/rock/emo band with huge potential as they navigate their sound with three stonking guitar sounds against an enquiring drummer. Decent tracks and a solid vocal who performed consistently on a big stage.

Heat 5 – H*llo K*tty Fun Land – A metal rock (ish) trio who like to think outside the box when it comes to creating tracks that don’t follow the rules. Thumpingly ridiculously amazing drumming, guitar noises to blow the speakers and screaming vocals when there were words, or even when there were none.

The headlining act were Jaded Teeth who entertained the crowd whilst the judges deliberated.

Another amazing BurySOUND – with huge thanks to Tim Willett and Seymour Quigley as well as all the sponsors and judges.
