Yet another close heat at BurySOUND as five excellent acts showcased their talents. The judges discussed, had their vote and the winners of Heat Two were announced:
Winners: Bi Neural
Bi Neural – a duo who only had time to play one song! It was a prog rock style concept track which took it to over 20 minutes starting off with long slow notes from the keyboard while the drums were adding intermittent beats. Just before you thought current section was reaching it’s section the track would switch and build. Whether it was the hard hitting bass riffs, the dancing around the drum kit, the almost choral, haunting voice, the heavy metal screams. This track was exciting, unique and wonderfully experimental.
The artists in Heat Two:
Jackism – singer/songwriter with a lovely gentle voice singing well-structured original tracks with a very nice sounding guitar. Definitely strong Ed Sheeran influences, however Jackism manages to make them his own with his heartfelt lyrics. I saw Jackism’s first ever gig as we were coming out of the first lockdown and to see how far he has come with his confidence is brilliant.
Serena Grant – the pop rock queen of the night, Serena’s high energy tracks left us all breathless. With a fantastically tight band Serena’s voice was a powerhouse belting out her original tracks and a rockier cover of Florence & the Machine’s version of ‘You’ve Got The Love’ for a great crowd pleasing set.
Drop Dead Sally – despite missing a band member Drop Dead Sally continued on with laptop and guitar punching out his indie rock songs to self-produced backing tracks. A solid decent set.
Manic Stanley – a return to BurySOUND after being so very close last year to reaching the final and definite improvements have been made for this hard hitting punk indie metal trio. The set was lively, angry and awesome. Yet again only a whisker away from getting through.
Headlining was $EBBUKU with their raw hip-hop blasting out of the speakers and into your soul. Brilliant tracks, brilliant lyrics, brilliant energy and brilliant rapping.

Heat 5 – 29th March
The final will be at The Apex on 12th April and Bi-Neural will be joining Krumpets in the line-up.
